Functieomschrijving
Do you recognize opportunities and translate them into data science solutions? Can you convince others of the value of your models? Then we are looking for you!
What is your role as a Data Scientist?
As a Data Scientist at Budget Thuis, you are the expert in modeling customer behaviors and assets such as wind and solar parks. You translate challenges and ideas from other departments into data-driven solutions. You combine the domain knowledge of your colleagues with your critical thinking, knowledge of statistical methods, and programming skills. The challenges at Budget Thuis range from playing a leading role in the energy transition to optimizing the Budget Thuis app and growing our customer base. Additionally, we are a rapidly growing company that continuously aims to challenge the market. Quickly adapting and supporting business decisions with solid data analyses is essential for this. With loads of (historical) data available (think of energy consumption, customer contacts, weather forecasts, and online click behavior), your task is to use the right model and deliver valuable insights that contribute to profitability, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. Depending on the situation, this can range from a simple regression to a neural network.
What are your responsibilities?
In your role, you have a lot of freedom and responsibility: you work together with other data scientists but also need to be able to independently set up new analyses and models. Within the Data Science team, we divide the following responsibilities based on experience and knowledge:
Challenging the information needs of colleagues in sales, trading and finance;
Answering complex questions and challenges within the company with understandable analyses;
Analyzing and improving churn and recommendation models that are already in production;
Developing new models to stay up-to-date with market developments and improve internal processes. Think of the energy transition, sustainability, or electrification;
Maintaining our Big Data AWS environment and models in production;
Professionalizing, automating, and documenting key processes.
Who will you be working with?
The BI & Data Analytics department currently consists of 14 data specialists. Three colleagues focus on the data engineering side and provide the team with the necessary data through their ETL pipelines. Other colleagues provide insights to the entire company through reports and ad-hoc analyses. The rest of the team is mainly focused on Data Science challenges. Together, we build our data foundation, develop complex models, and conduct valuable analyses.
